Greenwich consulting on 40 new cycle storage hangers

Greenwich Council have commenced consultation on the location of 40 cycle storage hangers across the borough.

The council state hundreds of people are currently on a waiting list for secure storage. The cost will be £50 for an annual subscription (managed by Lock It Safe) and £20 refundable key deposit. Seems steep to me.

Councillor Averil Lekau, Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Sustainability and Transport said: “Cycling is not only great for our environment, it improves air quality and can also help people live healthier lives.

“Not everyone in our borough owns a car, and we also want people who drive to know they have the option to cycle. That starts with better infrastructure and these proposed cycle hangar locations are a crucial step towards encouraging more residents to choose cycling as their preferred mode of transport.”

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
