Southeastern High Speed Javelin train damaged after derailment

A Southeastern HS1 train has suffered damage after derailing in Ramsgate last night.

Images show carriages off tracks with visible damage to the front of the Class 395 train.

It appears the train went through buffers at a siding in Ramsgate depot.

It’s not great news for passengers as HS1 stock can regularly be short-formed due to a lack of stock. Though according to Southeastern’s disruption page at the time of writing, no services are short-formed. Still, while the train is fixed resilience is lost.

Last night the company had put out a message stating: “Trains are unable to travel between #Ramsgate and Minster due to a safety inspection of the track. Services will be delayed, diverted or cancelled whilst the issue is being investigated.”

  • Was it due to a defective track or points failure that caused the train to derail. Or was it the train driver suffering from fatigue or wasn’t feeling well. These things do happen when driving a train.
