Sidcup M&S set to open as part of new development
Signs are now up at a development beside Sidcup station advertising a new Marks & Spencer food store.
In recent years a Co-op supermarket on site closed as the former building was demolished and replaced with a new mixed-use development including flats and a new commercial unit at street level taken on by the High Street giant.
The block has looked complete for some time now and I’m told advertising for the M&S Food Hall has finally appeared.
Funny thing is I used to visit this area quite a bit a few years back and was a regular at the Co-op, which I never really liked as there was no self-serve tills and the queues would be a tad lengthy so often I’d walk out after picking up a few bits. I hate queuing. Give me self serve anyway on a light shop.
Odd thing is I have no idea why I used to visit so often shortly before it closed. I didn’t live in Sidcup. I didn’t work in Sidcup. It’s like a fever dream wondering now why I used to go so often..
At a push it was perhaps because with a new born baby at the time I was taking her around to try to sleep and pass the time so would head to various local areas just for the sake of it. All quite odd I suppose in retrospect but I vividly remember that Co-op like the back of my hand.
Anyway, the new M&S should open pretty soon as the block is almost complete, and once fit out is complete job done.
When open Sidcup will have both an M&S and Waitrose. Not proper one’s mind. Still, one can sense the salivation of estate agents from here.
Bit of a ramble and stream on consciousness with this post?
