Thames Clipper riverboats cancelled and Thames Barrier shut tonight due to very high tide

The Thames Barrier will be closed tonight due to the threat of a very high tide leading to cancellations of Thames Clipper (or Uberboat if you must) services from 6pm.

No ferries will be able to reach Woolwich or Barking once the barrier is up.

Thames Barrier set to close tonight

Thames Clippers state:

The last service to call at these piers will be the 15:55 eastbound RB1 service from Battersea Power Station (calling at Woolwich at 17:23, and Barking Riverside at 17:30).

The last departures from these piers will be the westbound RB1 service from Barking Riverside at 17:35, calling at Woolwich at 17:44.

The cause of the barrier closure is a northerly wind will add to water levels on top of today’s high tide.

We may well see the water heading onto the Thames path in Woolwich and Thamesmead.
