New Eltham shop owner fined for dumping waste

Greenwich Council have fined the owner of Nisa in New Eltham after rubbish was dumped on Footscray Road outside.

The authority state that the owner received a £738 fine plus £800 in costs for dumping bags of commercial rubbish. Five separate offences saw the sentence given at Bexley Magistrates Court on 18th January 2023.

Greenwich Council state:

“In April 2022 our enforcement team within Street Services monitored the location and found several unbranded domestic black sacks dumped on the public highway sited approx. 10 metres from the store.

The team identified several pieces of merchant receipts, business address labels and commercial plastic packages that belonged to Mr Chavda’s business.”

They continue that the owner had been previously warned “about illegal waste dumping and had been advised on several occasions but had chosen to ignore all notices.”
