Major armed police operation by New Eltham station

A large number of armed police have arrested an individual beside New Eltham station in the past 30 minutes in what appears to be a pre-planned operation.

Around five armed response vehicles with numerous officers, undercover cars and a police helicopter were on scene surrounding a vehicle being searched.

Shortly after the arrest, police had blocked the at adjacent junction with vehicles stopped from heading towards Eltham along Footscray Road.
