Police Officer bitten after Deptford arrest

A police officer suffered a bite wound from a suspect arrested in Deptford.

Two men had been arrested for criminal damage. According to police: “upon arrest one of the males decided to bite an officer on the arm. Male still in Custody and further arrested for assault on an Emergency Worker”

Warning – the image below from police is graphic.

The trend in injuries to officers is up. In 2017/18 there were 26,000 – up from 2016/17’s 24,000 estimated assaults across the UK. It was 23,000 in 2015/16.

As a private renter with a young family, the cost of living is extremely high.
