Smoke seen emerging from Southeastern train at Abbey Wood. Big delays on line
It’s been a bad morning for commuters on Southeastern and especially those on the Woolwich line.
A train developed a fault at Abbey Wood causing smoke to appear. Southeastern state: “A train at Abbey Wood had issues with the brakes sticking on”.
A video of passengers removed from the train is seen below. What’s also noticeable is the amount of graffiti on the train.

A passenger also became ill further down the line at Charlton.
A train stuck behind saw an emergency alarm pulled.
Delays are ongoing:
Delays of up to 40 minutes on the #WoolwichLine as a result of an earlier train fault at Abbey Wood, and a passenger taken ill on a train at Charlton. Staff are working to restore services to normal, so some trains will be altered, or cancelled at short notice

As a private renter with a young family, the cost of living is extremely high.

I must be living in a parallel dimension; that’s the second time in as many weeks that I’ve just missed a huge disruption on Southeastern! This time I was on the 0918 from Abbey Wood, which arrived into Cannon Street on schedule…
Let’s face it, this benighted metropolis’ mass transit system is beyond utterly hopeless.
£6bn+ spent in the ThamesLink / London Bridge refrurbishment to REDUCE delays… and my off-peak train on Wednesday was stuck outside London Bridge fir over 20 minutes (and not the first time this has happened) resulting in a missed medical appointment with me left ‘nursing’ a £100 no-show fee!
Customer Services (though not much sign of the latter) at London Bridge couldn’t care less… just say “Fill in a Feedback Form!” and “Sorry for the inconvenience.”
Sorry about the missed appointment, but: 20 minutes ‘only’ (should indeed be 0, with as you mentioned the mass investments made) and you missed an appointment – by 20 minutes? How about departing 30 minutes or so sooner, have a coffee as to build in a possible delay. But nope, all have to be dancing in your boots
