  • Let’s hope this gets past the planing permission stage as the school street near me, Holburne Rd, gets gridlocked at school start/Finnish times with the local 386 bus unable to get through at times.
But maybe Greenwich should have included Correlli Rd . The section with Kidbrooke Comp in it from Boardwalk to Wrinklemarsh Rd as the school run parents will just go and block up the next closes street.

  • I agtee with Colin. Parking near schools is getting worse I am all for making our streets safer especially for children near schools etc.
But the scheme needs to be properly monitored with cameras or other type of road closures deterrents like bollards or barriers.
Otherwise people just ignore it and drive through anyway with no regard for others

    • The School Street zones will have cameras monitoring at school times only, the scheme is already in a number of areas across the UK.

  • I agree with Graham. The school streets need to properly monitored and fines issued to drivers not obeying the rules. The standard of driving has declined of late
with many drivers not obeying speed limits, red lights not stopping at Zebra crossings etc. They are all there for a reason and to keep people safe.
So if Greenwich Council are going to introduce more schools streets it must be done properly.
