Former Woolwich bank on the market for hefty sum
A recently closed bank in Woolwich in Powis Street is up for rent at a hefty cost.
Halifax departed the town last month as part of a wave of national closures. In some respects its a surprise they stuck around so long given Lloyds is part of the same group and they have a unit just a few doors along. Plans to alter the Lloyds Bank unit recently went in to Greenwich Council.

The Halifax building includes a basement and three floors above and is now up for a £102,250 pa.
It’s somewhat surprising the owner isn’t going for residential conversion for upper floors and leasing out the ground and basement. Or perhaps they are. The lease is on offer until 25 July 2027.
Elsewhere in Woolwich
In other Woolwich shop news and as covered on this site last week B&M look set to move into a large unit further west down Powis Street in the former New Look unit.
New housing plans all over the town centre come in thick and fast. Last week an increase in homes to 557 located behind the new Woolwich Waves leisure centre site was approved.
Next week separate plans for 930 student rooms, 425 rooms co-living rooms and 93 affordable homes are to be decided. They sit on a patch of land formerly homes to Woolwich Polytechnic school.
Like many other public plots of land in the town, it was sold and sat vacant for years. If approved a new link to Powis Street will be opened.
