Housing increase planned at Lombard Square near Plumstead station
Plans have gone in for another increase in homes at the Lombard Square development straddling the boundary between west Thamesmead and Plumstead.
Plot one has already been been approved and includes a tower with a newly revised submission seeking to increase total homes across the wider development at Lombard Square by 51 to 1,964. That follows an earlier increase from 1,750 to 1,913.
Some changes to building heights are proposed (one block taller and another shorter) while the plan sees changes to more smaller flats.

Nearby in Plumstead sits a 294-home site where the first homes are all but complete alongside a rebuilt college. A further 333 homes were also built recently a short distance away at a former care home.
Peabody and Berkeley homes are behind the wider plan and this increase would is for Berkeley homes’ build to rent division.

Elsewhere on site the first residents are due to move in any day now at plots across the one-way system.
Nearby housing growth
Two other developments have risen relatively close to Lombard Square in recent years. One is at the former Woolwich/Greenwich college site (it changed names over the years despite being in Plumstead) where the first block and rebuilt college is now near complete.

Another site see 333 homes at a former car home.
Fairview Homes redeveloped the site beside the old Broadwater canal which is all that remains of a more extensive network once serving the Royal Arsenal.
A Bus Rapid Transit was supposed to head through Thamesmead and Plumstead opening by 2026. It’s now been delayed until 2029. In advance the SL11 route will start n early 2026 – though it sees the 472 route cut which currently stops outside developments such as the new college and housing alongside. The SL11 will not.

The new homes look nice and with some of the new homes bring built to rent will help some of local.people looking to rent after being priced out of buying a new home. Although I am guessing rents will be much higher than the local housing allowance set by Local Authorities.
Still no mention of improving the public realm around the developments or improving amenities and infrastructure to cope with an ever increasing demand.
This area is in need of real generation so pleased to see the new homes being built
However I agree with CDT Greenwich Council need to invest more in improving public realm. Infrastructure and amenities including GP Surgeries, Dentist. Schools, Nurseries, Shops and public transport etc to meet demand of growing population and local communities..
