Thames Water to conduct major works in Erith for 2-3 years

A transport meeting being held by Bexley council this week has revealed details of major Thames Water works set to last two to three years.

A report states:

“Thames Water have a large mains replacement project planned in the Northumberland Heath and Erith area. The work will cut through the residential area north of Colyers Lane, exit onto Bexley Road and extend along Fraser Road”.

Fraser Road for those unaware is where a new Lidl supermarket is set to be built after approval was recently given.

In addition, the major Erith Quarry site seeing 850 homes built with further plans recently submitted.

The 180 bus from North Greenwich via Woolwich also heads that way and terminates outside the developments so passengers could be in for a rough few years.

Bexley Council state that Thames Water (if they haven’t collapsed by then) will “be notifying residents as they go and will be providing wider communications on the works”.

  • The Thames water mains replacement is long overdue and should have been done a lot sooner, but I suppose they are doing work before the Government take control of them and screw things up completely so we all end up having to dig wells for water.
I am more interested in the Quarry development and how it will impact adjacent streets like Carlton Road, Collindale Avenue etc
