Canary Wharf sees new bridge installed across dock
A footbridge has been installed spanning the Middle Dock at Canary Wharf.
It’s one of the latest stages of a wider project named Eden Dock which has seen walkways and new seating installed beside Canary Wharf Jubilee line station.

Lifted into place last month the bridge links Bank Street to a dockside walk near Canary Wharf DLR station.
Other aspects of the project include a pontoon and area for outside swimming.
Each end is blocked and the above shot was about as close as it was possible to get to the bridge.
It’s all part of the Canary Wharf Groups attempts to bring life to the area throughout the day including evenings and weekends and move away from the former 9-5, Monday to Friday reputation.

That extends to thousands more homes at both Wood Wharf to the east and North Quay alongside tower occupants aside from financial services.
Meanwhile there’s no sign of a long-promised bridge across South Dock linking Marsh Wall to the estate. Marsh Wall continues to see a number of residential towers rise.

It appears Tower Hamlets have cancelled that bridge after many millions spent in consultations and planning.
Further towers are proposed along Marsh Wall and will be covered in a future post.
