Three student towers near Canary Wharf reaching up to 46 storeys top out
A development comprising three towers near Canary Wharf has officially topped out and will see 1,672 student rooms and 80 flats.
Located near Blackwall DLR station and not too far from Canary Wharf’s estate expansion at Wood Wharf, three towers reach heights of 28, 36 and 46 storeys.
Blackwall DLR station has recently seen upgrade work complete.
The site was formerly a McDonald’s drive-through with the fast food chain set to return when work completes.

Approved in 2021 after changes from previously approved residential towers, a sky bridge linking towers was retained in the design.
Owing to a sizable levy on developers a total of £18 million in Community Infrastructure Levy payments will be made, with levels in 2025 from Tower Hamlets council set at £450 per square metre.

A separate student tower is proposed nearby on Wood Wharf. Initially rejected by Tower Hamlets, plans were called in by the Mayor.
Another student tower sits further south along Marsh Wall. A funding deal was agreed in February for a 1,068-room block at 30 Marsh Wall.

Vita are behind that scheme, and if the name rings a bell that’s because they constructed a student tower beside Lewisham station in recent years.
