Further Blackwall tunnel weekend closures announced by TfL

Transport for London have announced further full weekend southbound closures of the Blackwall tunnel.

Silvertown tunnel construction work means no traffic will be able to cross the Thames southbound between 16th-18th March and 13th-15th April. A previously announced closure will also be implemented this coming weekend.

Bus route 108 will again be curtailed either side of the river.

South of the river it’ll run between Lewisham and North Greenwich station. North of the Thames it will operate between Stratford and Canning Town station. Users are advised to travel on the Jubilee line.

Tunnel roads and structures take shape north of the Thames

The new tunnel is set to open in 2025. A TfL report before the Investment Committee next week stated there was a delay in submitting information to the Department for Transport required as part of the project.

Upon opening both the new tunnel and the Blackwall tunnel will see tolls.
