Greenwich street changes: New consultation launches

Greenwich Council have launched a new consultation into possible changes to backstreets in both west and east Greenwich.

The measure is asking people to highlight issues in the area and seeks to take a holistic view after the removal of the West Greenwich LTN, which some said diverted traffic to east Greenwich.

The West Greenwich Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme ran for 18 months under an experiment traffic order. It was revised part way through to allow taxis to pass.

In terms of a new LTN, the consultation states “we cannot pre-determine what measures may be suggested. We’re keen for local people to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns to help us to co-design schemes that best meet the needs of the local community.”

The West Greenwich “Hills and Vales” project predated pandemic measures and was removed in March 2022, with some complaints of a lack of information.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
