Abbey Wood travellers site searched in weapons hunt

Police launched a major operation early this morning in south east London as they sought weapons in a number of sites.

Numerous police vehicles descended and a helicopter hovered above the Abbey Wood travellers site on Harrow Manorway after 5am this morning.

Police were also seen digging at sites on Southmere park in Thamesmead.

Yours truly passed the site during early afternoon where operations seemed far quieter compared to  the scene this morning when Harrow Manorway was closed as numerous police vans lined the area
