Application in to demolish Eltham Police station

An application has been submitted to demolish Eltham Police station.

Met Police vacated the site last year with plans of housing mooted. The building dates from 1937 and was on the market for £2 million in December 2021.

This latest application does not reveal future plans but seeks the green light to bring down the current building.

Eltham was the latest in a long line of stations to close over the past decade. Others include Woolwich, Greenwich, Westcombe Park, Sidcup, Belvedere and Thamesmead.

There has been ongoing discussions of a place on the High Street for officers to be based.

Running a site alone takes time and a fair bit of money. Adverts are far from enough to cover it and my living costs as a private renter.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
