Work underway on 258 homes at Crossways Quarter
News that three large distribution depots are proposed east of Dartford reminded me that plans for 258 homes were also planned for a site nearby.
I’d covered plans back in February 2020, but now work has been approved and the first new homes beside Stone Crossing station are underway.
Bellway Homes are behind the scheme, and have hardly spent big on quality architecture. Bland boxes are your lot.
Homes are close to Stone Crossing which used to have a skeleton service of just two trains per hour. It’s now four an hour all day as Thameslink calls alongside Southeastern.
That makes the station more appealing and brings frequency into the turn up and go bracket. Well actually not quite as that requires a train every 15 minutes, but the timetable has trains with a 10 minute gap then 20.
Bellway are selling the development on driving times, with the developer prominently stating on their sales website that it’s “just 10 minutes’ drive from Bluewater Shopping Centre and close to the Dartford Crossing for connection to the M25.”.
That’ll put drivers on the same ever more congested roads as lorries heading to ever more distribution depots in the area.
I wonder if prospective buyers are being made aware of the racing along Crossways Boulevard most nights and virtually every weekend.
