New flats and shops plan in Erith

Plans have been submitted for a block of flats and commercial units at Northumberland Heath.

The site at 19 Belmont Road facing Becton Place currently houses a single story structure.

According to the planning application:

“The existing premises has been vacant since January 2020. Its previous use was as a child daycare facility open from 07:00 to 18:30 with an outside space for play and activities. The use generated noise at certain times of the day and contributed to traffic congestion as a result of parents picking up and dropping off often at peak times. The proposed combination of retail with residential will have neither of these amenity disbenefits going forward.”

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
