Terrorist shot dead in Streatham after shoppers stabbed

Police have shot dead a man who attacked people with a knife in Streatham this afternoon.

#INCIDENT A man has been shot by armed officers in #Streatham. At this stage it is believed a number of people have been stabbed. The circumstances are being assessed; the incident has been declared as terrorist-related. Please follow @metpoliceuk for updates

Police have advised people to avoid the area. An armed officer was seen pointing a firearm at a man lying on the pavement in front of Boots. There have been comments that waiting times for ambulances were lengthy.

In what could be a related incident a BMW SUV has crashed in the area. It appears to be the type of unmarked vehicle armed police in London use.

This follows an incident before Christmas when a man was shot dead on London Bridge.
