Poundworld Bexleyheath confirmed to be closing in August

Seventeen staff will lose their jobs after Poundworld’s administrators confirmed closure of the Bexleyheath branch next month.

It’s one of 80 confirmed to close in the near future. It’s very unlikely any branch will stay open long term though closure of all is not guaranteed. It relies on a buyer arriving at the last minute.

I was in the Elephant and Castle branch last week and barely anything was left on shelves.

1,500 jobs in total will be lost if every branch closes.

    • The Lewisham branch is having a closing down sale and the BBC news says that all the stores will be gone by 10 August. It’s a pity for the workers, but there seems to be room for only one pound store operation and Poundland is the winner.
