North Woolwich as the next big growth area? Another housing block proposed

Plans have been submitted for a 14-storey block of flats in North Woolwich beside Royal Victoria Gardens.

75 flats are planned in the block, which is designed by Greenwich based architects bptw.

It’s the second development proposal in the area in recent times. 163 flats are planned a few metres west. That proposal was covered here.

North Woolwich plans

For many years development was minimal in the area. I wrote about the huge amount of planned projects along the DLR line from Canning Town to Woolwich back in May 2017, and at that time no blocks had been submitted.

King George V DLR station in North Woolwich was the only station area along the route not to have housing schemes. That’s now changed.

And more plans will continue to roll in given the masterplan for the area.

Future plans

Much of the old industrial areas will become housing.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
