Home Bargains in Crayford is set to open late January 2027
A new branch of Home Bargains in Crayford will be opening on 30th January 2027.
Two units at Tower Retail Park which were formerly home to Poundland and Hobbycraft are being merged to create one large Home Bargains in the town.
Modest outside changes are being made including trolley bays, a glazed shopfront, altered entrances and new roof cladding.
Both Poundland and Hobbycraft left around 2025.
Difficulties
Poundland is currently seeing financial difficulties and entered administration last week with arguments between company management and owners Gordon Brothers.
Some sites may close or be sold off depending on whether any takeover is successful.
Ironically the company has recently seen strong sales, with the company’s founder stating he is “really surprised” to discover Gordon Brothers were filing for administration despite sales rising 11% on last year.
If Poundland go under there’s questions over the fate such as their Woolwich store in the former Marks & Spencer unit.
Could a company like Home Bargains open there? According to a meeting last week which will be covered soon, Greenwich Council already seem to think Home Bargains are in Woolwich.

They may be confusing it with a shop rather less likely to bring in footfall.
It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve got confused over what shops are in their main town centre.
As for Hobbycraft they’re owned now by Modella. Many company’s they takeover failed shortly after including Claire’s and The Original Factory Shop. They bought High Street WH Smith’s and are currently embarking on a mass-closure programme.
