Crayford Home Bargains to open in two vacant shops
A plan as been submitted to Bexley Council to fill two vacant units at a Crayford retail park with a new branch of Home Bargains.
The units in question at Tower Retail Park are Poundland, which closed in February 2026, and Hobbycraft which shut in September 2025 according to the application.
Now applicant TransEuropean Properties seek to join the two enabling Home Bargains to open.
The closet Home Bargains to Crayford currently are in Charlton, Orpington or over the Thames in Thurrock.
The retail park was first approved in 1998 and opened in 1999 on the former site of a Vickers factory. Vickers produced armaments at a sprawling site and played an important role in securing victory in two world wars. They moved partly into other products post-war but the MOD ceasing orders in the early 1970s was a severe blow.
A timeline of the factory’s role throughout the 20th century can be seen here.

At least people are happy to have a Home Bargains at Crayford Retail Park in Crayford instead of having to travel further just to shop at Home Bargains. I only been to Crayford once.
Makes sense to let Home Bargins take over tnr empty units in Crayford rather than the units stand empty for years. If planning permission is granted . I believe new Home Bargins store will prove to be popular with customers..
