Bexleyheath pub sees landlord give notice blaming high costs
The Prince Albert pub in Bexleyheath is set to see its current landlords depart with ever increasing costs being blamed.
Located near the old Woolwich Building Society office block which is now Bexley Council’s headquarters, the current landlords have have operated the pub for nearly seven years. In a post they stated:
“Many people ask why independent pubs are disappearing, and the truth is that the costs of running a business like ours have become unsustainable.”
Costs mentioned include doubling in rent, energy costs up to £4,500 a month at one stage alongside rising staff costs and National Insurance. Sports subscription packages with Sky and TNT are also expensive.
There’s now six months to find someone able to take the pub on. If not it will close.
During those six months under the current landlord events will continue to be put on with the pub still trading before a final goodbye night.
Those in charge end by noting:
“If there is one thing we’d ask, it’s this: support your local pubs, cafés, restaurants and small businesses. They need your support now more than ever. If you have a favourite local business, don’t assume it will always be there.
“Use it, support it, and make it part of your week. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for six unforgettable years.

The current Labour Government have made it so hard for businesses and the Hospatality sector. I hope a new landlord can be found for the pub. Sadly I can see prices having to rise which is not for the customers during a cost of living crisis.
