Consultation on Plumstead cycle and bus lane begins

Consultation has commenced on a short stretch of cycle lane near Plumstead station.

It consists of a lane heading eastbound from the gyratory and heading past where two bus stops are located.

Lane proposed on left of this stretch of road

The cycle lane would run adjacent to the road then dive behind bus stops before merging with general traffic on Plumstead High Street.

A short stretch of bus lane is also set to appear.

This is far from the only change proposed in the area. A bridge over the railway is set to be gated off, while a new crossing is installed a few metres away.

Other changes include an area outside Plumstead station as seen above.

Work has also been undertaken below the Pettman Crescent road bridge on a walking and cycling link between the station, bus stops and the Lombard Square development bringing almost 2,000 homes.

To the east a couple of smaller projects have recently been undertaken along the High Street.
