New housing beside Bromley North station on the rise
New homes beside Bromley North station have topped out.
These are the first 75 homes of a larger planned development comprising 525 homes designated for new housing by Bromley Council.

Between two new blocks will be a garden area, with improved walking routes from nearby housing to the station.
As it turns out I was there to take photos the very day Bromley Council put out a news story about the site.

The site was formerly parking near Bromley North station, with trains from the station running as shuttles to Grove Park taking five minutes.
There’s many bus routes in Bromley including two Superloop routes with the SL3 running to Chislehurst, Sidcup, Bexleyheath and as far as the Elizabeth line at Abbey Wood then onto Thamesmead.
The SL5 runs to Croydon via a number of stations.
Completing next year
The first 75 homes are set to complete in spring 2027. Architects Mae are behind the design.

Future phase
A following development is set to be undertaken by Willmott Dixon in partnership with Network Rail.
According to the development website this plot “comprises the station car park and TfL stands, 6-10 Sherman Road (excluding 10A Sherman Road) and the block on the corner of Tweedy Road and Station Road.”

Given the town center location and transport links (including a Superloop route that stops outside which is how I reached the area) it’s proposed that building heights range from 4-8 floors, with 10 possible beside existing buildings of that height.
Finally another development has recently completed a short distance away where Purelake have built 53 flats on Tweedy Road.

The new homes are bei g built in a nice central location next to Bromley North Station, Bromley Town Centre and local bus routes. Ideal for commuters and local residents alike.
Town centre developments are proving to be popular and are close to shops restaurants and pubs.
I’m really happy about this. Thanks for covering it. I went past there frequently and a surprising thing about that car park was that it was almost never full, and often had only a few cars in it. As someone who got their first flat just a few years ago at age 39, I am only in favour of brownfield sites like this being turned into what looks like smart, good-quality housing. The location is almost perfect, amenities everywhere, a railway station, and probably the best-served bus stop in the whole borough.
Is this what the Bakerloo Line extension to Bromley North could possibly happen in the next decade. With new apartments to be built next to Bromley North station and near to Bromley South station.
Bakerloo line extension is proposed to Lewisham in phase 1, maybe in the next decade – wouldn’t put money on it.
Phase 2 is to Hayes (Kent). Nothing to Bromley North or South.
New apartments next to Bromley North railway station would unlock more extra trains and could also see the Bakerloo Line extension to extend from Lewisham to Bromley. And a brand new Bakerloo Line station to be built in Bromley and between Bromley North and Bromley South stations.
The construction of the Bakerloo Line extension hasn’t yet started from the Elephant so talk of a extension to Bromley is ridiculously premature. You can bet that a significant population of locals will fight the extension to Hayes because a tube line will bring tens of thousands of new homes to their leafy, low density part of SE London (It’s only “Kent” if you’re a local seeking to distance yourself from the metroplolis)
The development is right next to a station that is only a branch line to Grove Park and terminates on the far side of the main lines. I hope the people buying there for the convenience of a railway station, do their research.
