No DLR services to central London for six days next month
Services between West India Quay and Bank will be impacted
A six-day closure of the DLR will see no services call at both Bank and Tower Gateway station next month.
The closure runs between Good Friday on 3rd April and lasts until Wednesday 8th April.
That means no trains from Tower Gateway and Bank station to Poplar and West India Quay.
After running on Thursday and Friday those stretches of line are again closed on Saturday 11th April and Sunday 12th April.
New trains
Regular closures for maintenance works in recent years have been exacerbated by testing of new trains.
That new stock has recently resumed testing having been pulled form service over an incident last spring. Stock entered service around 18 months late before being withdrawn after three weeks.
Extensive testing has seen various closures in parts of the network. Keeping older trains running has meant a reduction in services including along the Beckton branch.
It’s all hitting TfL’s revenue, with the organization also paying more to manufacturer CAF to store completed trains in Spain.

Is there a reason this testing can’t be done overnight? Sure it’ll be expensive to pay for overtime, but wouldn’t that be offset by the passengers for days when the service can remain open?
I do expect to see the new DLR trains to enter service in the summer. They might enter service in June or July but who knows.
