Nearly 200 new homes near Thames Barrier set to commence?

Work on a new development in Charlton could begin as a number of reserved matters go in to Greenwich Council.

The site was cleared last year and is adjacent to another recently completed block on Eastmoor Street and Westmoor Street and not too far from the Thames Barrier.

Set to rise

It’s also close to the former Victoria pub which has recently been restored with a residential extension.

A flurry of details have gone in recently and this week details covering the entrance and building materials popped up.

In total 182 homes are listed on the Formation website.

These sites in the Charlton Riverside masterplan area are the first of potentially 8,000 to be built in lower Charlton.

In addition more than 700 homes are underway a short distance away as estates are rebuilt at Morris Walk and Maryon Road.

The area has recently seen a reduction in bus services as the 472 – which stopped beside – was cut and replaced with the SL11 which sails past.

Streets

I expect some forthcoming conflict when between residents and existing business at new Charlton homes as walking along streets isn’t easy.

In fact it’s often impossible as vehicles are parked on paving either side of the road, particularly on Westmoor Street.

How the changing nature of this area is managed will be an issue to watch.

  • I wonder what’s happened to the proposed east-west spine road through the area.

It was stated that the route 301 would be extended along it (but not to North Greenwich station).

  • @ Chris L i was also wondering about tbe east-west spine road which i thought was going to run through the Charlton Rivrrside development.

It was stated the the 301 was going to be.etended to Charlton. I also thought this may have been ibrought forwardc and introduced when the 472 was axed. Possibly with route 301 having a further extension to North Greenwich Station which would have made sense.

I am also surprised TFL did not take the opportunity to extend route 301 to Charlton when sadly ro
ute 472 was axed back in January. As it is planned.yo extend route 301 to Charlton to serve new Charlton Riverside developments.
