Greenwich shop rebuild on the cards
Plans to extend shops in east Greenwich have been submitted.
Proposals would see further infill and increased density along Trafalgar Road on the former Boots site.

The current squat block isn’t exactly an architectural masterpiece and these plans looks decent enough.
Next door sits the co-op which recently saw an extension and yesterday I covered another co-op at Shooter’s Hill which is set for a similar programme of works to add additional floors above the supermarket.
Increasing density and adding new homes above flats has been seen elsewhere in east Greenwich over recent years (one example is above the Cake Box a short distance west) and the Broadway in Bexleyheath is another bit of a hot spot for it.
Hard to see many downsides really as we often low rise 1-2 floor buildings adding a floor or two becoming the same height as neighbouring buildings (and back to the same height they were before World War II bombing and/or poor quality post-war rebuilds) while providing new homes and thus new custom for shops.
Changes would see a total of four new homes.

More new flats in East Greenwich. No wonder many areas in and around London loves having more new flats near town centres and railway stations. And for locals to commute into Central London.
