Woolwich Arsenal station’s empty unit finally sees new occupant
A long empty unit at Woolwich Arsenal station’s London-bound platform is to finally see an occupant.
Work is underway and a small, A4 piece of paper suggest coffee chain AMT will be moving in.

I’ve been wracking my brains trying to remember who was last in there.
Looking back through photos and this appears to be from 2021.

I’m not entirely sure it was taken in 2021 or uploaded to the site in 2021, but it feels a long time without an occupant.
The station has seen a reduction in footfall with the opening o the Elizabeth line but remains a busy place, with trains to Greenwich taking 15 minutes and Zone 1 reachable in just over 20 minutes.

If they get air con in there they’ll do a roaring trade of people trying to get some cool air during the weather recently seen.
Believe me, arriving off a baking hot Class 376 it’d be bliss.

The station should see more usage in years to come despite the Elizabeth line purely via the sheer number of new homes being built in the near vicinity.

They applied for a licence to sell alcohol over extended hours.
Not sure if it was agreed.
Not surprised Woolwich Arsenal has seen a drop in passengers, it’s been a shoddy service since 2023 when they axed Charing Cross trains which still saw high numbers of passengers despite the Elizabeth line.
It’s the same story across both the Woolwich and Bexleyheath lines, the latter line gets 1tph to Charing Cross but they always cancel this one so it’s pretty worthless
The cafe was in a sorry state before it was emptied a far cry from the 90s/00s
