Restaurant approved below new Woolwich tower

Plans to open a Chinese restaurant have been approved at the base of a Woolwich tower.

The Sichuan restaurant will be situated below a block recently built on the former Waterfront car park.

In recent months plans went in for an Asian supermarket at the next tower along. That was covered on this site in June.

In total six towers are being built with four complete and the final two almost finished. In coming months a decision will be made on the future of Waterfront leisure centre further west.

A number of complaints were raised at a licensing meeting last week though a license was granted. See the report here.

Complaints ranged from delivery drivers to the smell of cooking.

The company behind plans – Jinheng Alley – have another restaurant located at 43 New Oxford Street in central London.
