Stratford student tower sees exterior cladding rise

A new student tower in Stratford has begun to see cladding applied.

The block sits on a low-rise former office block half way between both Stratford and Stratford High Street stations.

It’s one of many student blocks either underway or proposed in the town.

In recent weeks a temporary building which housed a supermarket, gym and bar has been demolished for another student block near Stratford international DLR and Southeastern stations.

Meanwhile work continues on a block beside the steps leading to Westfield. I managed to get a look around by a worker on site and need to write up a post about it.

It’s more than just another block rising given the history of the site as the former post-war entrance to Stratford station – and is one of the least remnants of that time to disappear.

Former block on site

Back to the block now rising and upon completion it’ll also include a sixth form college. At 36 floors it’s similar in height to nearby towers presenting a wall effect from many areas.

Upon completion 716 student rooms will be included within the tower.

  • Student accommodation is a high priority for both developers and Local Authorities across London Boroughs..
London will now have thousands of student rooms in purpose built student blocks. Which I believe will provide a better environment for students to live in while studying. . Many are also located close to public transport and other local amenities.
Similar student accommodation blocks are also being built in Woolwich, Lewisham and Greenwich/Deptford..
