Greenwich Park could see new entrance created
Plans have been submitted to create a new entrance to Greenwich Park via the opening and insertion of a gate in the boundary wall of the Queen’s Orchard.
Dating from 1661, the Queen’s Orchard sits to the north east of the park not too far from Maze Hill.

This section of the park saw changes in the early 20th century with the construction of a play area and boating pond still in use to this day.
The below image as seen in the application shows the proposed gate location.

Greenwich Park has undergone a number of changes in recent years as part of a wide-ranging and now completed £12 million project.
Perhaps the most visible was recreating the “Giant Steps” or Grand Ascent.

Plans for an entrance at the Queen’s Orchard can be seen here.
