Greenwich Council have announced that Sparkle in the Park will return to Charlton this year.

With the nights rapidly drawing in eyes are starting to turn to the festive season, and this event will see a Christmas market, light shows and installations, a fun fair and performances from local schools and choirs.

Events will be within Charlton House as well as grounds outside. Events within the Jacobean mansion will be listed online soon.

No tickets are required though queues may be seen at busy times stating “we will do our best to minimise any wait times, but please be prepared to queue for entry at busy times, particularly on Saturday evening.”

Sunday will see a quiet hour for children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and sensory sensitivities which will see no flashing lights, reduced noise levels and limited capacity between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.

This is the fifth year of the event which has been located in various areas of the borough. Last year’s event was held in Avery Hill park where 27,000 people attended.

The festival is being organised by Festival.org who are also behind the recently Greenwich and Dockland International Festival.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
