B&M set to open in Thamesmead

Retailer B&M have submitted plans to open in Thamesmead at the former Wilko store.

The unit at Cannon Retail park has sat empty for a while. The company also have branches at Charlton and Kidbrooke.

Proposed express bus and DLR at site

The retail park has struggled for some time with not only the loss of Wilko but also Argos previously.

An express bus from Bromley will start in 2024 and terminate in the area, while long term there are plans for an express bus to Woolwich and a possible DLR station in this area.

The planning application can be viewed here.

  • Great news. Not only Argos but also lost next and peacocks over the last couple of years. Only pets at home remain currently

  • That retail park would need to be demolished for the proposed DLR?

    • @Woolwich Resident: the DLR ain’t coming to Thamesmead anytime soon.

  • Brilliant news the loss of Argos and Wilkinsons was a huge loss to our High Streets and retail parks. B&M opening in Thamesmead is excellent and I hope the store gets planning permission.
