Busy worksite beside Canary Wharf station at North Quay site

Work digging basement levels for a new block beside Canary Wharf Elizabeth line station has picked up after a bit of a lull.

This area is known as North Quay and is set to see large-scale development covering a large area of land to the north of the existing Canary Wharf estate.

Crane appearing soon?

Sitting between existing towers and Poplar DLR station, the site will eventually see easier connection between the DLR and Elizabeth line.

First up is a life sciences block recently approved. That will rise in the foreground of the below image.

Following that will be thousands of homes, shops, office space alongside new public space.

The life science block is the red and yellow block below.

Future site

Following completion it will likely be quicker and easier to switch from Poplar DLR station to Canary Wharf Elizabeth line station compared to using the actual Canary Wharf DLR station.

While West India Quay could be quicker still, a large number of trains don’t call there.
