Kidbrooke bus changes proposed by TfL

Transport for London have launched consultation on bus changes in Kidbrooke owing to new development work.

Buses will take a new route past Pegler Square beside the station under the proposal for routes 335, 178 and B16.

They would no longer head down Cambert Way, which has long seen plans as part of the decade-old are masterplan for blocks lining Kidbrooke Park Road.

The existing route is quite convoluted with large loops in each direction.

Changes see buses no longer doubling back on themselves as seen here on the 178 route.

Further changes will be made to buses in Kidbrooke when Transport for London’s housing development north of the station sees its main square complete.

Upon completion 619 homes will be built at Kidbrooke Square.

That is not part of this latest consultation, which can be viewed here.

Ever changing

As ever in Kidbrooke much is happening. Just last week Tesco had a licensing meeting about opening a new store on Peglar Square which is set to now see buses pass by.

More blocks are rising south of the station and Pegler Square at Phase 3 (near the former site of Sainsbury’s and other shops) while consultation has been undertaken on Phase 5 blocks.

Other plots at Phase 5 are well underway and should be completed in 2024, as will over 400 homes on TfL’s plot. Greenwich Council also have four sites underway in the town.

  • Bus services in Kidbrooke do need to be reviewed. With the amount of new homes under construction the Kidbrooke area would benefit from new bus routes too.
