Kent coast direct trains from Woolwich line not running for next month
Weekend summer trains direct from the Woolwich line to the Kent coast have seen an unfortunate start this year and will now not run for most days until late July.
Trains pencilled in by Southeastern since early June have not run most days this month due to Network Rail engineering work.
One service was running yesterday which has been the exception in recent weeks. Now all weekends for the four weeks will also be halted given engineering work.
Sadly necessary work on the infrastructure had hampered the link to Margate, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Broadstairs and Ramsgate.
Changes this year for when service will run also mean stations between Deptford and Westcombe Park now lose their direct service as its runs via Lewisham.
It’s a bit of a hidden service given the Southeastern online timetable doesn’t list it as running to Ramsgate. You have to hold the cursor over the service leaving Cannon Street at 09:25 for it to show as heading to Ramsgate.
In some respects with government cuts to rail it’s surprising it even runs.
On the bright side, weekend services will from 24th July and throughout August will see less disruption as things stand.
