London City Airport expansion well underway
Work to expand City Airport is now well underway with images released showing deck construction on King George V dock.
Once expansion is complete the airport will have an entirely new terminal and departure area to accommodate an increase in passengers from 4.3 million in 2005 to 6.5 million in 2025.
Flights will increase by 32,000 a year with eight new aircraft stands.
The £480 million scheme was approved by Mayor Sadiq Khan within weeks of taking office. Yet he fought against Heathrow expansion in west London and stated:
“This will be a critical moment, and for the sake of Londoners affected by poor air quality, disruption from noise and the costs needed to improve transport connections I will do what I can to stop these poor plans”.
Heathrow expansion is the wrong decision for London. I'm supporting legal action against a third runway. https://t.co/vF9KRaoX1E

Not sure how that doesn’t apply to east and south east London but there you are.
