Fire around Abbey Wood and Bexleyheath

There are reports on Twitter that two fires have broken out in between Longleigh Lane and Brampton Road on the boundary of Abbey Wood and Bexleyheath.

The area has extensive woodland and grassland.

Given the fire is in two locations and follows arson at a nearby playground beside Lesnes Abbey at the weekend, questions will be asked as to whether it has been started deliberately.

UPDATE: At least four pumps are on scene and making good progress on damping down the flames. The dry ground makes it possible flames will reemerge so it could be a long job.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

    • I’m surprised you haven’t reported on the 4 Fires that happened last week in Slade Green on the field next to the train station.
