Woolwich Crossrail station secured

After all the uncertainty surrounding funding for Woolwich station it has been announced today that an agreement has finally been reached between Tfl, the Department for Transport, and Greenwich Council on funding.

Hopefully this will finally be the end of the decades old saga and Crossrail will finally make it to South East London allowing quick links to Canary Wharf, Whitechapel, Bond Street and Paddington.

To fund building the station box, Berkeley Homes will build thousands of homes on the Royal Arsenal site, mainly around the temporary car park opposite Riverside House. Those thousands of homes will be in some pretty tall towers, which will prove controversial in all likelihood.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
