New Cross ticket office closes for refurbishment

The ticket office at new cross station is currently closed due to refurbishment works.

Southeastern state it’ll reopen on Friday 11th September 2026 with additional staff on site to assist passengers.

The station serves Southeastern and London Overground

Looking at station information and it was surprising to see the office is staffed until later on a Sunday (8pm) than it is between Monday and Friday.

Located close to New Cross gate which serves Southern and London Overground trains, New Cross also serves London Overground trains on the Windrush line, though only via the branch which terminates at the station and sees fewer trains per hour.

As with just about every other Southeastern Metro station new homes are due to rise nearby.

  • New Cross station itself along with the ticket office could be redeveloped and to have step-free unless it already has lifts. And the Windrush Line serves New Cross.

I think that New Cross station could be re-developed with a new ticket hall, new entrance and the platforms to be re-surfaced.

I never thought there was any point in having a ticket office since the barriers are usually unstaffed and open.
