Former Greenwich Pizza Hut to see new occupant

Plans have gone in for a new occupant at the former Pizza Hut in Greenwich.

And it’s a KFC. Contain your excitement, please.

Pizza Hut shut as part of a nationwide programme of closures after the UK subsidiary entered administration last year and the site has remained pretty much as it was ever since, with salt and pepper shakers and menus still evident on tables.

The unit is part of the same building housing an Odeon cinema in a retail park beside massive car park, so a KFC is probably fitting.

Next door sits a B&Q which has seen demolition plans approved for new housing above retail spaces. The car park will also be built upon. Ikea remains.

New homes approved opposite Ikea

When it’s built perhaps some more interesting food options will arrive.

As for now, if you fancy a nice meal on a night out it’s probably going to be worth skipping this area and continue heading to Greenwich town centre o r perhaps Lewisham when the long planned cinema opens there, alongside other unconfirmed occupants of Lewisham Gateway phase two.

The latest news was Lewisham cinema would open in late 2026. We shall see.

  • Hi

I have loved KFC all my life always dependable…
But when I was in there 2 or 3 months ago and the number of chips was less than my number of fingers…

I commented a few years ago that the size of the chicken pieces seem to be from a much smaller breed of chicken than I remember in the old days

  • So the millions of chickens stuck in cruel breeding factories across Wales and other areas, dumping their effluent sludge into our rivers and watercourses, will continue to grow, as KFC, one of the biggest sources of fast food and its related obesity, packaging littering, and animal cruelty in the UK and worldwide, ignores Government threats and attempts of clampdowns on fast food, and continues it’s growth here. Profits, of course, go to USA investors. Like so much of this nation, we act merely as a source of funds for US investors. Vote with your feet, guys, wean yourself off KFC and the like. That’s the only way we’ll beat ’em.
