Thameslink unlikely to run all week on south east London’s Woolwich line
There is unlikely to be any Thameslink services running this coming week between Luton and Rainham after last week’s train collision near Bedford.
Thameslink have already confirmed no services tomorrow and are set to shortly confirm services for the rest of the week, though with the line from London to Bedford closed all week during recovery and investigation work no Thameslink services along the Woolwich line looks possible.
Thameslink trains from Brighton to Bedford will only run to and from Luton, and in turn those that normally head to Luton such as the service from Rainham via Woolwich and Greenwich will not run except for a shuttle in Kent between Rainham and Dartford.
Thameslink state:
“Rainham to Luton services will run between Rainham and Dartford only. Please use alternative Southeastern services from Dartford to London. You can also use the Elizabeth line if you’re travelling to or from Abbey Wood.”
Southeastern will have two trains call additionally at Higham station tomorrow.
Difficult conditions
It looks to be an extremely hot week with temperatures up to 38c in London with high humidity.
With fewer Thameslink trains that will see busier Southeastern Metro services. You can check whether a Southeastern train train will have air conditioning via Southeastern’s timetable page or check on Real Time Trains.
Look for those marked as City Beam. Southeastern recommend setting up an alert through their app or website to notify passengers of any changes

Due to the tragic accident. This is totally understandable.. My thoughts are with everyone involved and the emergency services personnel who attended the scene to help and treat all the casualties.
Hopefully services will be able to resume by next week.
We just need to be patient.
I can’t understand why they can’t run Rainham to Luton? Are trains trapped in Bedford Depot?
The train crash happened on my birthday and I do feel very sad for those who have been affected and of course 1 family who have lost their loved one who was a train driver. Very sad.
As Thameslink have been taken back into public ownership. Thameslink should keep the Luton-Rainham service and some Thameslink trains to terminate at Gravesend and Rochester at peak times.
