Woolwich Snooker Club could lose licence
A snooker club could see lose its licence after a violent incident earlier this year.
Police state they havn’t received requested CCTV after the incident and are now asking Greenwich Council’s Licensing Committee to review the licence.
Formerly known as Rileys and then Hustlers the club is located on Hare Street with a report before the committee stating:
“The Premises Licence Holder, Mr Tacim Yavuz, was involved in an incident on 2nd February 2025 at approximately 12:30am outside of the premises.
Two males left the premises fighting each other; Mr Yavuz intervened and during the confrontation, Mr Yavuz assaulted one of the customers by punching him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Mr Yavuz then pursued another member of the public and proceeded to kick him in the legs. Mr Yavuz was arrested and admitted to the assault; however, he was later released pending investigation. The case has been closed without further action.”

CCTV was not handed over according to the Met, with Greenwich Council stating:
“To date, Mr. Yavuz has failed to provide the Police with the CCTV footage covering both the interior and exterior of the premises, despite previously providing assurances to do so. Consequently, we support the Metropolitan Police’s decision to review the licence, given Mr. Yavuz’s conduct.”
A hearing will be held next week and a decision due shortly after.

I remember this place as a low-life hangout from my university days – on the rare occasion I stepped in to sharpen my game I’d be met by local characters who immediately wanted to play for money (there was no way to decline short of taking a beating). Nothing appears to have changed in the last thirty-plus years it seems.
That was the charm! By the time I started going it wasn’t like that so much but mostly dead. A good way to kill some hours when I should have been at college.
The venue is very popular and has a good array of pool (American pool and smaller tables) and snooker tables. Games, and food and drinks from the bar, are reasonably priced, which is important to enable people of all incomes to enjoy the venue. Not everyone can afford heading to more up market places like the Dial Arch, and lots of people like a game! I very much hope the venue can stay as it benefits so many people in the area. I’ve been to the venue about 10 times in the last 2 years and have never seen or heard any trouble. Staff have always been super polite and friendly…
Close it dahn. There aint no need for violence on ere.
Since they opened their roof I noticed broken glasses and bottles in myrtle alley. Everytime I walk through there I’m waiting for one of their punters to drop a bottle on my head. For that reason I say: remove their license and close it down.
