Severe Elizabeth line delays due to heat-related speed restriction

There are severe delays on the Elizabeth line today due to “due to heat-related temporary speed restrictions” between Paddington and Heathrow.

However a quick glance at real time information shows an impact on services on the core with some delays, and as any regular user will tell you in the core section now any delays can mean not being able to board given how popular it is.

This heat-related speed restriction may seem curious as it’s hardly the height of summer.

However it appears that recently re-laid rail around Acton has had less time to be stressed and so direct strong sunshine presents a small chance of buckling hence the measures today.

Same abroad?

I’ve little time for those who moan about the UK being useless during snow or when its 40c as the UK’s systems aren’t really designed for those extremes.

Other countries with similar weather do similar.

Snow, for example, is pretty rare in the UK so it’s no great surprise it can play havoc, particularly with third rail.

Tomorrow looks a tad warner today so let’s see what’s in store.
