Southeastern remind passengers of 10-week Blackheath tunnel closure

Southeastern have put out a release today reminding passengers of another 10-week closure of tunnels linking Blackheath and Charlton.

It’s not new news as Southeastern have been mentioning in council meetings for some time but the press release today aims to reiterate what’s coming from 18 May to Sunday 27 July 2025.

While work is underway Southeastern will divert trains via Lewisham back to the Greenwich line briefly once again bringing service levels back to what they were before cut backs in 2022.

Don’t get used to it though as “turn up and go” service levels will once again be removed by late July until at least December.

Tunnel work also mean direct trains to Kent coast resorts such as Margate and Whitstable will run via Greenwich during the closure.

DLR trains link Greenwich Lewisham stations.

It’s the second long-term closure in two years with work also undertaken last summer that saw. Network Rail state another closure is due in 2027.
