Transport for London reveal Old Kent Road cycle plan
Transport for London have revealed plans for work at a junction on the Old Kent Road to improve cycling.
Changes are proposed at the junction with Ilderton Road which sits in the midst of numerous new developments.

The aim is to connect with Southwark Council projects either side as part of cycleway 62 which is a forthcoming route heading from Rotherhithe to Peckham.
This project doesn’t see any cycle lane along the Old Kent Road itself which is waiting for a major upgrade – one day.

New residential blocks now line Ilderton Road from the Old Kent Road in the south to South Bermondsey station in the north with others approved.
Meanwhile the Old Kent Road in this area has many sites underway including at the former Aldi retail shed. A replacement store will be located below new homes.

Google have just updated their satellite images which handily gives an overview of this area.
Sites visible include new homes on the Tustin estate.

Five plots are visible here alone. Zooming out would show more in the near vicinity including a tower just to the north.
A student block recently completed nearby and close to that site sits a plot with more than 1,100 homes at the Ruby Triangle masterplan area. The first blocks are now starting to rise and poke above site hoardings.
